I began the edit with twelve small studies, all using the same three photographs. Instead of changing the images, I adjusted the margins, text width, and heading weight. The content stayed constant; the rhythm of the page did not.
The strongest version gave the images more room and brought each caption closer to the text it belonged to. The contrast became less dramatic, but the reading flowed better. I kept the other versions because they explain decisions the final page cannot show.
